Our Editorial Policy

How we produce trustworthy and accurate information

At WorkOnFILM, our purpose is to provide you with the information and resources necessary to become a skilled, motivated and diverse performer, with the goal of building a long lasting career within the entertainment industry.

To do this, we need to ensure that the information we’re providing is accurate, and trustworthy. To do this, we’ve developed this Editorial Policy to provide transparency into how we develop our content and how we ensure we’re providing the best information.

We are committed to the following principles:

1. Our Mission and Values

Our primary mission at WorkOnFILM is to educate and inspire the next generation of actors. The entertainment industry hasn’t always been the most supportive or inclusive place, it’s our goal to change this.

All of our content is created with the single goal of educating and inspiring by providing the necessary knowledge and resources for your journey into the entertainment industry.

2. Accuracy and Diversity of Opinion

At WorkOnFILM, we understand that what works for one person may not work for another, and for that reason there’s a lot within acting that purely comes down to preference. We want to ensure that the content we produce maintains this diversity of opinion, so you can decide what works best for you.

To do this, we must ensure the information we provide is honest and accurate. Here’s how we do this:

  • All of our content is reviewed for accuracy by industry experts. Before publication, all of our content is reviewed, fact-checked and verified by an industry professional with relevant experience and expertise to ensure we’re only providing the most accurate information.
  • Contributers are hand-picked to ensure expertise. Any and all contributers are hand-picked to ensure each piece of content is backed by personal and professional experience and/or training within that subject. The author is also clearly stated at the top and bottom of every blog post.
  • Independent Research. Although our writers are actors themselves, we all mis-remember information from time to time. To ensure we’re only publishing the most accurate information we extensively research all topics during the writing and review process to mitigate any unconcious biases or mis-remembered facts.
  • Financial and Health information is verified externally. Any content that contains health or financial advice will be independently fact-checked by a licensed industry professional (i.e. Doctors, Financial Advisors, etc)
  • All content is checked to meet our high quality standards. We only want to provide the best content. Anything that is below our high standards will be discarded and rewritten.
  • All content is monitored for up-to-date information. Although all information is up to date at the time of publication, information may change over time. We regularly check content to ensure any out of date information is updated instantly.

3. Transparency and Readability

It’s important to us that the content we produce is highly readable and provides transparency on important information such as when it was last updated. To maintain this, we’ve designed our site based on usability, user feedback, content clarity and good design practices.

Here are some things you can find in every blog post to ensure transparency & readability:

  • Fact checked notice to show the post was reviewed before publication.
  • Original date of publication.
  • Date that the post was last modified, signified by “Updated:”
  • Name of the author of the content with a link to their bio page.
  • A clear table of contents (when needed)
  • Content is well spaced to ensure content clarity.
  • Limited (if any) advertising

4. Brands and Partnerships

From time to time we may recommend a product or service in one of our blog posts. It’s important for us that we’re only recommending the products and services that we truly believe in and have used ourselves (often on a daily basis).

If we’re benefitting financially from a recommendation, for example if we’re working directly with a brand for advertisement, sponsored deals, partnerships or affiliates, this will always be explained within the blog post.

We also recognise that too much display advertising can ruin your user experience. This is why we have chosen not to display ads on our site unless the brand has been thoroughly vetted by ourselves. And when advertisements are displayed, to limit the number of ads per page to ensure you still get a great user experience.

5. Engagement and Feedback

We don’t write content for ourselves, we do it for you. And it’s important to us that we hear from you. There are many ways you can reach out to us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Every blog post we publish has a dedicated comment section where you can discuss the content as well as any thoughts you’ve had. (This is monitored to ensure we limit spam)
  • You can also reach us on our social media pages, these can be found at the bottom of any page.
  • If you’d like to report out of date or incorrect information, please email us at [email protected]
  • You can also send mail to our mailing address. This is found at the bottom of any page.
